What's in a N.S.W Probate Packet?
Probate packets contain papers relating to the validity of the will of a deceased person.
Packets vary greatly regarding the amount of information they contain but almost all contain a copy of the will of the deceased person. And many also contain a copy of the Death Certificate
Probates after 1965 are held by the Supreme Court of NSW. These documents are much more expensive to obtain because of fees we incur in the search. For details of these fees, please see our pricelist and ordering page.
The main series of probate packets covers the period 1817-early 1975.
There is however, a separate index to early probate records that starts about 1790. This series will also be searched as part of our fees.
